Heavy cloud cover obscured the target and three passes were made before bombs were dropped in what was described by the navigators themselves as a "bad miss".

Three aircraft and two crews were lost on this day.   Lt. William E. Cramsie and Lt. Arthur A. Raines, Jr. each lost an engine due to flak and ultimately crashed without survivors.  Another aircraft, piloted by Lt. Marion S. Street, was also badly damaged by flak and crash landed at RAF Bradwell Bay on the return.
