--- ANAZARBUS ---

This web site is non-commercial. It is not sponsored by any academic institution nor by any foundation or government bureau of tourism. It exists solely for the purpose of publishing and soliciting information about an obscure ancient city. The undertaking was conceived as an extension of one man's hobby, the collecting of ancient coins from this city, and is anticipated to be a long term endeavor. It is hoped that through this effort the world of academia, and the political administrators charged with study and preservation of sites such as this, will come to see in a very small way the usefulness of open dialogue with amateur numismatists and historians. We have considered the merits of compiling the bulk of material before launching this site, as opposed to letting it grow more or less randomly as time and energy permits. The latter approach may suffer from organizational inconsistency, but it lends itself well to the realities of site development in one's "spare time." We hope you will find the content interesting and that you will share any additional information or ideas that you might have.
